Men's Swimming Sets 12 Team Records; Lions Fall to Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team broke 12 different records in 16 events in a dual meet at Nazareth on Saturday. The Lions fell to the Golden Eagles, 179-101.

Key Moments:


* The Lions attacked the record books with 12 team times replaced thanks to 10 different swimmers
* Jake Schmidt (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) and Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) won a pair of events on the day
* Schmidt set a new team record and was first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.77 and also won the 400 freestyle in 4:19.53
* Schmidt was also a part of the record-setting 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays
* Compton won the 100 breaststroke with a new record time of 1:08.74, before breaking the record in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.24
* James Connolly (Allentown, PA/Parkland) led the Lions in the 800 freestyle, touching in first in 9:09.79
* Gibson Hoce (Palm Harbor, FL/Palm Harbor University High) swam a new record time of 2:23 in the 200 butterfly for first place
