ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's indoor track & field program competes this weekend at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio for the 2019 Midwest Track and Field Open.

* The Lions return to the track after not competing since December 1, 2018      
* Behrend's most recent competition was the Mt. Union Toy Drive Collegiate Invitational in Mount Union, Ohio
* The Lions did not have a team score, but ended with five first-place finishes on the day
* Sophomore Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) was first in the high jump with a leap of 6-06
* Freshman Zachary Tingley (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) crossed the finish line first in the 800m with a time of 2:01.53
* Junior Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) won the mile with a time of 4:32.11
* Junior Kyle Grimm (Beaver, PA/Beaver) was first-place in the pole vault  with a height of 13-06.250
* Drozynski and Tingley joined Michael Cross (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Colton Barger (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) in the 4x800 relay to bring home another first-place medal with a time of 8:49.87
