ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's and women's track and field teams are back in action on Friday for their first outdoor meet of the year. The Lions will compete in the CMU Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon spanning Friday and Saturday.

Women's News & Notes:

* This is the first meet the entire team will take part in since February 18 at Nazareth
* The distance medley relay team of Emily Ferrans (Bradfordwoods, PA/North Allegheny), Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/ Fort LeBoeuf), Izzy Spires (Wattsburg, PA/Seneca) and Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) logged a 13th place finish in the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships
* Behrend saw another 13th place finish in the 4x200 consisting of Laffan, Victoria Dieterich (Oakmont, PA/Riverview), Haley Felton (Midway, PA/Fort Cherry) and Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan)
* Nola clocked in at 10:51.52 in the 3K, placing 12th in the AARTFC Indoor Championships
* The Lions finished second in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship in 2021

Men's News & Notes:

* Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) and Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) became NCAA All-Americans with top-10 finishes in the high jump at the NCAA Championships
* Smith clinched third place with a final mark of 2.03m and 6.0 points
* Hetrick finished at 2.03m with 3.5 points for fifth place
* Behrend took 13th in the AARTFC Indoor Championships with 17 team points on March 5
* The distance medley relay team of Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep), Eric Stehlik (Northport, NY/Northport), Nick Temel (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake) and Phoenix Myers (Erie, PA/Seneca) collected All-AARTFC honors with a seventh place finish with a time of 10:36.56
