Hetrick, Dabrowski Headed to NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's outdoor track and field team will send a pair of athletes to the NCAA Division III Championships from May 25-27 in Rochester, New York. St. John Fisher University and Visit Rochester will serve as co-hosts.

Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) qualified in the high jump and Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harborcreek) will compete in the discus. On Thursday, Dabrowski will take part in the prelims beginning at 1 p.m. The high jump competition is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Hetrick enters the event tied for fourth in the nation with a mark of 2.08m that he logged during the Behrend Invitational on April 16. Hetrick previously appeared in the NCAA Indoor Championships earlier this semester, finishing runner up in the high jump. This is the second outdoor championship of Hetrick's career. Last year, Hetrick earned All-American status with an eighth-place finish in the high jump.

Dabrowski will also be making his second NCAA Championship appearance, registering a school-record distance of 51.13m at the Mt. Union John Homon Open on April 6. He enters the championships with the 16th best throw in NCAA Division III. Last season at the outdoor NCAA Championships, Dabrowski placed eighth overall in the discus to earn All-American honors.
