22 Behrend Track & Field Athletes Set To Compete At AARTFC Outdoor Championships

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend outdoor track & field teams will send 22 athletes to Cortland this Wednesday and Thursday to compete in the 2024 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Outdoor Championships.

* The AARTFC qualifiers for the men: Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep) – 800m (1:54.79 season best), Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) – High Jump (2.00m season best), Alex Cotton (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) – Shot Put (15.52m – personal record), Dan Dabrowski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) – Discus (51.86m personal/school record), Matthew Laslavic (Evans City, PA/Seneca Valley) – Javelin (54.42m – personal record), Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) – Pole Vault (4.50m – season best), Jake Egizio (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan)  – 200m (21.90 – personal record), Antonio Faraone (New Castle, PA/Union) – Shot Put (15.11m – personal record), Derek Hillhouse (Erie, PA/McDowell) – High Jump (1.93m – personal record), Aidan Domencic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) – 3000m Steeplechase (9:36.21 – personal/school record), Aiden Grieneisen (Brockway, PA/Brockway Area) – Javelin (54.33m – personal record), the 4x1 relay team of Hetrick, Egizio, Marshall Nock (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell), and Odis Florence (Streetsboro, OH/Streetsboro) (43.18 – season best), and the 4x8 relay team of Klein, Nicolin Pierce (Erie, PA/McDowell), Aidan Reinsel (North East, PA/North East), and Aiden Seeman (Edinboro, PA/General McLane)
* The AARTFC qualifiers for the women: Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) – Pole Vault (3.60m – personal record), Julia Balaski (Mercer, PA/Mercer) – Javelin (39.85m – personal/school record), Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) – 400m (1:01.11 – season best), and the 4x8 relay team of Laffan, Lindsey Hartle (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth), Bethany Litwiler (Reynolds, PA/Reynolds), and Bridget McMaster (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo Central)
* Currently, Dabrowski sits 14^th in the NCAA Division III rankings with his personal best throw in the discus, while Balaski, Kappeler, and Hetrick are all top 50 in their respective events
* Each team competing at regionals is afforded a wild card admission, which is an athlete that just missed a qualifying mark/time
* The top 22 men and women in each Division III event will qualify for nationals on May 23-25 in Myrtle Beach, SC
