Geneva Spoils Behrend Men's Volleyball Season Opener

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Geneva men's volleyball team posted a four-set win over the Behrend Lions in non-conference action in the Metheny Fieldhouse on Friday night. 

Score: Geneva 3, Penn State Behrend 1 (17-25, 25-21, 22-25, 16-25) 
Records: Penn State Behrend (0-1), Geneva (3-5) 

Key Moments: 

* The first set was in favor of the Golden Tornadoes thanks to hitting percentage and forced errors 
* Geneva hit .429 to the Lions .107 despite both teams recording 11 kills apiece 
* The Lions came back from a five-point deficit in the second set to even the match with a 25-21 victory 
* The third set saw six ties before Golden Tornadoes broke loose and won the final five out of six points, securing the lead at 2-1 with a 25-22 win 
Geneva grabbed its biggest lead of the match in the fourth set to collect its third win of the season 
In his first outing in a Behrend uniform, freshman Logan Hering (North East, PA/North East) paced Behrend with 15 kills 
Hering led with seven kills through the first two sets, including three kills in the final six attacks for Behrend in the second set 
Senior Colin Dedert (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) was one kill away from his first collegiate double-double with nine kills and a career-best 14 digs 
Senior JP Goodsell (Corry, PA/Corry) was the second Behrend player with double-digit kills, adding 13 to go with nine digs 
Sophomore Diego Ortiz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) had a career-high 39 assists on the night, adding eight digs and three kills while sophomore libero Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) registered 14 digs 
* Geneva improves to 3-1 against the Lions in the all-time series
