ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory in their home opener against Thiel in non-conference action on Wednesday night in the Junker Center.

Key Moments:

* Freshman Logan Hering (North East, PA/North East) led all attackers and was the lone player with double-digit kills with 12
* Hering led the team in kills for the second straight match, going 12-for-19 to hit .632 with no errors
* As a team, the Behrend Lions recorded a .364 hitting percentage for the three sets
* The Lions had a flawless first set with 11 kills on 19 attempts for a quick 25-10 win
* Freshman Joshua Elegeer (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) got his first collegiate start tonight and was instrumental in helping Behrend pull away in the second set
* Elegeer tallied a kill and then served the next four points to get the Lions out front 19-13
* Elegeer finished with seven digs, two kills and two service aces
* With a 2-0 lead in the match, Behrend closed out the third set with a double-digit lead behind the five kills from David Mendez-Fernandez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio Dan Ignacio de Loyola)
* Freshman Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) paced the Lions with a season-best 14 assists and added two digs
* Behrend has won the last nine out of 10 meetings with the Tomcats
