Behrend Men's Volleyball Sweeps Bethany, Gallaudet

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team swept Bethany and Gallaudet 3-0 in a non-conference tri-match on Sunday in the Junker Center.

Match One:

Score: Penn State Behrend 3, Bethany 0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-16)
Records: Penn State Behrend (5-10), Bethany (1-8)

Key Moments:

* Behrend used a 19-2 run to erase a two-point deficit and take set one 25-10
* The Lions knocked down 13 kills and only allowed two by the Bison
* Behrend had its best set in the second, posting a .429 attack percentage
* Cameron Schleicher (Meadville, PA/Meadville) recorded five kills on six total attacks in the second set
* Down 7-6 in the third, Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) registered a kill before serving the next four points, getting a pair of aces, to give the Lions the lead for good at 11-7
* Schleicher tallied nine kills on 12 attacks with no errors for a .750 hitting percentage
* Schleicher also added six digs, two assists and two block assists
* Daniel Easly (Erie, PA/McDowell) tallied seven kills and four digs
* Setter Luke Mumpower (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) contributed 25 assists, four kills, three digs and two aces

Match Two:

Score: Penn State Behrend 3, Gallaudet 0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-16)
Records: Penn State Behrend (6-10), Gallaudet (1-11)

Key Moments:

* Behrend held the lead for the entire match except for the first four points of the opening set
* The Lions allowed just 11 points in the first set, while knocking down nine kills, 4.5 team blocks and two service aces for a 1-0 lead
* Behrend used a 10-2 run to start the second set to take the early lead and hold on for a 25-13 win
* Hoffman posted four of his five kills in the second
* The Lions kept Gallaudet to single-digit kills in each set
* In the third, the Bison rallied to get within two at 15-13
* Behrend closed out the third on a 9-3 run, ending on Brady Urbanowicz (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) ace
* Joseph Sciscio (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) and Lewis Rhodes (Reston, VA/South Lakes) each posted six kills
* Sciscio hit .417 and tallied six block assists
* Mumpower led with 20 assists and Trarendran Heyward (Flossmoor, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) handed out 10 assists
