Men's Cross Country Heads to Houghton on Wednesday

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team will begin their season this Wednesday, September 1 at the Houghton Invitational in Houghton, NY. The race begins at 5:30 p.m.

* The Lions earned their highest preseason regional rankings in the fourth spot according to the USTFCCCA for the Niagara Region. Behrend sits behind SUNY Geneseo, Ithaca and Rochester
* The Behrend men won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) last season, held in the spring at La Roche
* The championship marked the 12th overall for the men's program and first since 2017
* Senior Phoenix Myers (Erie, PA/Seneca) led the Lions with a second-place finish (18:36.68)
* The Lions posted a team score of 23 and six All-Conference runners
* Chris Annear (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) was named the AMCC Newcomer of the Year for being the top freshman at the AMCC Meet, placing fifth in 19:40.59
* In addition to Myers and Annear, Nick Temel (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake) and Aidan Domencic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) are returning All-Conference runner
* Head Coach Greg Cooper enters his 13th season at the helm of the cross country programs
