Softball Opened 2020 Season Saturday

CLERMONT, Fl. – The Penn State Behrend softball team open the 2020 season on Saturday at the Spring Games, taking on Plymouth St. and Millsaps.

Game 1
* The Lions played their first game of the season against Plymouth St. on Sunday, falling 3-1
* Mackenzie McIntire (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) led the team with one hit and one RBI to start off the year
* Alayna Derzak (Seven Fields, PA/Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic) and Alaina Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) split time one the mound with Wyckoff receiving the loss
* Derzak and Kaylene Chaffee (Venango, PA/Cambridge Springs) each tallied a hit 
* Caitlin Miller registered the pitching win for the Panthers

Game 2
* Behrend took on Millsaps in the second game falling 16-5
* The Lions went down 10-0 in the first three innnings before Kylee Bundy (DuBois, PA/DuBois Area) doubled to center to score Behrends first run
* Bundy tallied two RBIs and one hit
* The Lions continued to stay in the game until the fifth inning when the Majors scored the 16th run
* Lauren Olevnik (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) finished the game with two hits and two runs
* Wyckoff recieved the loss (0-2)
