Lions Finish Seventh at Blue Devil Invite

FREDONIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team completed the Blue Devil Invite in seventh place out of nine teams on Sunday at Fredonia State.

John Carroll won the three-day event with 942.5 points, followed by Allegheny in second (614) and Oberlin in third (511). The Lions added 129 points to their Saturday total for a weekend score of 311.

Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) had the best finish individually for the Behrend on the final day, coming in fourth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.62 while Abigail Witmer (Herndon, PA/Herndon) came in seventh (1:03.09). Witmer also had her best finish in the 100 butterfly, claiming fifth in 1:02.79.

The relay team of Lowery, Horn, Witmer and Wyckoff placed seventh in the 400 medley relay in the morning session with a time of 4:19.22. It was the same four who placed seventh in the 400 free relay with a finishing time of 3:47.53.

Lowery and Wyckoff finished one after another in the 200 freestyle. Lowery placed 13th with a time of 2:03.11 and Wyckoff was 14th in 2:03.46.

In the 400 IM, Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) tallied a 10th-place finish in 5:14.42.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, January 14 against Washington & Jefferson. Meet begins at 1 p.m.
