Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Pitt-Bradford

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team dominated their final home dual meet with a 100-45 victory over Pitt-Bradford in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday in the Junker Pool.

The Lions won the first seven events of the night, beginning with the 400 medley relay where Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village), Kristin Owens (Erie, PA/McDowell), Abigail Witmer (Herndon, PA/Herndon) and Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) teamed up for a time of 4:27.75.

In the next two events, Behrend posted a 1-2-3 finish. Wyckoff led the 200 free in 2:07.07, followed by Allison McClure (Loveland, OH/Milford) in second (2:16.17) and Lacey Grinnen (Warren, PA/Warren) in third (2:16.50).

In the 50 free, Claire Mallick (Pittsburgh, PA/Woodland Hills) was the top performer in 27.32. Jessica Rettger (Bradford, PA/Bradford Area) was two second behind in 29.68 and Paige Lorson (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore) was third (30.37).

Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) kept the winning streak alive with back-to-back wins. She claimed first in the 200 IM (2:21.69) and then won the 100 butterfly (1:04.87).

In the 100 freestyle, Horn clocked in at 59.82 for first place and Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) was second in 1:01.85.

The seventh straight win belonged to Witmer in the 100 backstroke. She had a winning time of 1:06.87 and McClure was second in 1:10.74.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow at St. Vincent. Meet begins at 1 p.m.
