Women's Swimming and Diving Falls to St. Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. – Abigail Witmer (Herndon, PA/Herndon) won two events to help the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team compete at St. Vincent on Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats defeated the Lions 160-78 in non-conference action.

Witmer won the 200 backstroke in 2:24.95 and then led the team in the 100 butterfly for third overall in 1:06.93. She also joined Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village), Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) and Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) for a first-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:47.32).

Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) was the other individual winner for Behrend. She clocked in at 11:56.24 to lead all swimmers in the 1000 freestyle. Watterson also placed third in the 500 freestyle (5:56.86).

Horn had the best time for the Lions in the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle. She recorded a time of 1:07.29 in the backstroke and 26.75 in the freestyle.

In the 200 freestyle, Lowery posted a time of 2:07.13 for third place.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday, February 8 at the AMCC Championships, hosted by the Lions.
