Busy Weekend for Women's Swimming and Diving

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team will compete in pair of dual meets this weekend. The Lions travel to Chatham and battle the Cougars on Friday night at 6 p.m. and then return home to host Alfred State on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes

* The Behrend Lions are coming off a 182-103 loss at Westminster last Saturday
* The Lions won five individual events on the day
* Marcella Puglia (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) and Barbie Cessar (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) were the top finishers for Behrend with two wins each
* Puglia and sophomore Julia Sank (North East, PA/North East) were named AMCC Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively
* Sank tallied a pair of second-place finishes on the one-meter and three-meter board at Westminster to earn the honors

Chatham News & Notes

* The Cougars enter the meet with a 2-0 overall record
* Chatham defeated Hiram (149-81) in the season opener, before posting a 124-78 win against Penn State Altoona last Saturday
* Freshman Amy Jarvis was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Rookie of the Week for the second straight week
* Jarvis won the 100 free (56.42) and the 200 free (2:04.92) and swam freestyle on the winning 200 medley relay (2:00.69) in Saturday's win.
* Jarvis holds the top time in the 100 free in the PAC and is fifth in the 200

Alfred State News & Notes

* The Pioneers are undefeated on the season
* Alfred State tallied a 145-95 win against Buffalo State to open the season
* The Pioneers are coming off a 104-102 win against Fredonia on October 15
* Last week, Mikaela Snayczuk was named AMCC Swimmer of the Week for posting six individual wins in the first two meets of the season
* Against Fredonia, Snayczuk won the 200 IM (2:23.68), the 100 fly (1:07.16) and the 100 breast (1:12.57)
* Diver Sarah Streeter also earned AMCC Diver of the Week on Oct. 18 for her performances to start the season
