Women's Tennis Heads to Pitt-Greensburg for Season Opener

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team will join the men this Saturday at Pitt-Greensburg for their Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) season opener. The match begins at 1 p.m. at the Greensburg Racquet Club. No fans permitted.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes:

* The Behrend Lions will play six matches this spring, including five conference matches
* Behrend will then compete in the AMCC Championships on April 24-25
* The Lions posted a 1-11 overall record a year ago
* Behrend has seven letterwinners returning to the squad, including team MVP Marissa Bowles (South Orange, NJ/Columbia)
* The Lions are competing during the spring season due to the fall cancellation due to the pandemic
* Behrend defeated Pitt-Greensburg 8-1 on Sept. 7, 2019 for its lone AMCC victory

Pitt-Greensburg News & Notes:

* The Bobcats are on a two-match winning streak to begin the season
* Pitt-Greensburg defeated Medaille and Mt. Aloysius by an identical score of 9-0
* Last fall, the Bobcats finished eighth in the AMCC with a 1-11 overall record an 0-8 AMCC mark
* Freshman Emily Ruhlman leads the team with a pair of wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles
