Women's Tennis Secures No. 2 Seed for AMCC Playoffs

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team secured the No. 2 seed for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament next weekend with a 7-2 win over La Roche on Friday night.

Key Moments:

* Erica Jasinski (Fairview, PA/Fairview) helped the Lions with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles
* She teamed with Audra Carnes (Fairview, PA/Fairview) for an 8-3 decision in doubles action, before defeating Alex Jaksec 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot
* Behrend swept the doubles matches and won four of the singles matches
Jada Donatien (Brooklyn, NY/Millburn) and Marissa Bowles (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) had a close victory at No. 1 doubles, winning a tiebreaker 8-7 (7-2)
Rachel Weber (Hampton, PA/Hampton) and Sara Howard (Ashtabula, OH/Edgewood) secured an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles for a quick 3-0 lead
* After Jasinski won at No. 1 singles, Carnes, Howard and Emma Martin (Mars, PA/Mars) handled their singles matches for the five-point victory against the Redhawks
* At No. 4 singles, Carnes was victorious at 6-2, 6-0
* Howard followed in the fifth spot with a 6-0, 7-5 decision while Martin swept Alena Matthews 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles

* The Lions return to action on Saturday, April 24 against No. 3 seed Penn State Altoona in the AMCC Semifinals. Match begins at 6 p.m.
