Women's Tennis Set for AMCC Championships

ERIE, Pa. – The No. 2 Penn State Behrend women's tennis team will face No. 3 Penn State Altoona in the 2022 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament Semifinals on Saturday at approximately 7 p.m. at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pa. The match will follow the first semifinals featuring No. 1 Pitt-Greensburg and No. 4 Mt. Aloysius at 4:30 p.m.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions last won the AMCC Championship in 2020
* Behrend enters the championship as the No. 2 seed for the third straight year
* Last season, the Pitt-Greensburg defeated the Lions 5-4 in the title match to win its first-ever AMCC crown
* Behrend enters the tournament 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the AMCC
* The Lions only loss was to the No. 1 seed Pitt-Greensburg (9-0) back on Sept. 10
* Behrend defeated Penn State Altoona 8-1 during the regular season 
* The winner of the semifinals will advance to the championship match slated for Sunday, October 16 at 3:30 p.m.
* The champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament

* The Penn State Altoona Lions are the No. 3 seed with a 3-2 AMCC record
* The Lions have their sights on winning their third AMCC Championship
* Altoona is 4-7 overall this season, recently defeating Waynesburg 8-1  in non-conference action on Wednesday
* Mikhaela Merca has a 7-3 overall record at No. 1 singles and is 5-5 at No. 1 doubles for the Lions
