PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Junior Julia Balaski (Mercer, PA/Mercer) surpassed her own Penn State Behrend track & field javelin record at the Carnegie Mellon Invite to begin the 2025 outdoor season.

* Balaski threw 142-2 on her fifth attempt for second place in the javelin, shattering her previous program record mark of 130-9 set at Allegheny last season
* This throw places Balaski first in the Division III rankings and qualifies her for regionals in the javelin throw
* Caroline Lewis (Erie, PA/McDowell) (103-1) and Braylee Lukehart (Reynoldsville, PA/DuBois Area) (100-0) were behind Balaski in 11th and 13th
* Freshman Jaade Duncan (Turner Falls, MA/Turner Falls) finished 16th in the 100m with a time of 12.96
* Throwers Jessica Park (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) (Hammer/118-4) and Norah Keeney (Ontario, NY/Wayne) (Discus/101-3) placed 17th and 19th in their respective runners
* In the 400m hurdles, Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) registered a time of 1:15.06 for 19th place
* Lindsey Hartle (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) ran a personal best time of 19:06.69 for 24th in the 5000m
