Women's Volleyball Wins Twice at Behrend Invitational
The Behrend women’s volleyball team picked up a pair of wins, defeating Geneva 3-2 and Houghton 3-1 in their home opener on day one of the Behrend Invitational in the Junker Center on Friday night.

ERIE, Pa. – The Behrend women's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins, defeating Geneva 3-2 and Houghton 3-1 in their home opener on day one of the Behrend Invitational in the Junker Center on Friday night.
Match One:
Final Score: Behrend 3, Geneva 2 (25-23, 10-25, 25-22, 16-25, 15-5)
Records: Penn State Behrend (1-4), Geneva (0-5)
Key Moments:
* The Lions had their first five-set match of the season go in their favor for the first win of the season
* Behrend won the odd sets and handled the Golden Tornadoes 15-5 in the decisive set
* Cadence Jones (North East, PA/North East) and Olivia Swinarski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) each tallied six kills in the final set to help Behrend rallied back for the win
* Jones finished with her first double-double of the season
* Jones led with 21 kills and 14 digs, while adding three blocks and a season-best six service aces
* Setter Brynne Smith (Butler, PA/Knoch) also had a double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs
* Sarah Nobach (Athens, MI/Athens) contributed 11 digs and six assists
* With the match tied at 1-all, the Lions produced a match-best 14 kills in the third set including seven from Jones

Final Score: Behrend 3, Houghton 1 (28-26, 24-26, 26-24, 25-17)
Records: Penn State Behrend (2-4), Houghton (1-2)
Key Moments:
* Jones did better than her best and registered 22 in four sets of work, hitting .364 in the match
* As a team, the Lions hit. 243 with 52 kills on 136 attacks
* Behrend had double-digit kills in each match
* Smith dished out 43 assists, her best to date as a Behrend Lion
* Swinarski, who tallied 12 kills in the first match, added 12 more kills in the second match
* Even though the first set was the closest and went into extra points at 28-26, the second and third sets and 15 ties each and 18 lead changes
* The Highlanders won the second set and the Lions were able to hold off Houghton in extra sets in the third, before claiming the fourth 25-17
* Alani Salas-Garcia (Jacksonville, FL/Mandarin) posted a season-best 13 digs and added three kills, three assists and one service ace
