Behrend Offense Propels Lions to Two Wins in CWPA Action

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team bounced back with two victories in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) action on Sunday, collecting wins over Connecticut and Utica.

Final Scores:

Game 1: Penn State Behrend 16, Connecticut 6
Game 2: Penn State Behrend 17, Utica 4

Noteworthy:

* The Lions put together their highest offensive output of the season in game one with 16 goals and set a new benchmark in game two with 17 scores
* Behrend had 10 different goal-scorers in the win over Utica with Marley Persch (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville) having a team-high four tallies
* Emily McNaughton (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) found the back of the net twice in the first half against the Pioneers, ending the day with three goals in the two victories
* Angela Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt), Shannon Young (Roseville, CA/Roseville) and Persch each had three goals in the morning matchup with Connecticut
* Five other Lions would find the scoresheet against the Camels
* Wright and Sarah Mancebo (Tulare, CA/Mission Oak) also registered multi-goal games, having two apiece
* Behrend improves to 2-2 in CWPA play and currently sit third in the league standings
