Women's Water Polo Sweeps Day One of CWPA Action

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team snagged a pair of victories in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) play on Saturday. The Lions took wins over Utica and Connecticut to open their four-game slate this weekend.

Final Scores:

Penn State Behrend 10, Utica 5
Penn State Behrend 18, Connecticut 8

Noteworthy:

* Marley Persch (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville) led all scorers with five-total goals over the two wins including a team-high four tallies against Connecticut
* Samantha Darrell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) potted three against the Camels as Shannon Young (Roseville, C/Roseville), Olivia Wright (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Emily McNaughton (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) each had two
* In the win against Utica, the Lions registered 10 different goal scorers
* Behrend logged their second-best defensive performance of the season against the Pioneers allowing just five goals
* Chloe Dodgen (Riverside, CA/Hillcrest) and Julie de Deus (Pembroke Pines, FL/Pembroke Pines Charter) combined for 10 saves in goal against Utica with Dodgen stopping 11 against Connecticut
