Lions Battle For CWPA Supremacy in Action-Packed Weekend

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team heads to New London, Connecticut for a weekend of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) action. The Lions will take on Utica, Connecticut, Washington & Jefferson and Grove City with competition spanning Saturday through Sunday.

Behrend News & Notes: 

* The Lions went 2-2 in their first CWPA weekend, collecting victories over Connecticut and Utica
* Behrend combined for 33 goals while limiting the aforementioned to just 10 goals in two games
* Three Lions were honored with accolades from the CWPA following that weekend
* Marley Persch (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville) was named the CWPA Rookie of the Week while Samantha Darrell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) and Emily McNaughton (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) earned Defensive and Offensive Honor Roll, respectively
* Persch led Behrend in scoring, potting 12 against league opponents
* In non-conference play, the Lions defeated Grove City (9-4) during the PSB Invite on March 26

Opposition News & Notes: 
* Washington & Jefferson has not played a match since the PSB Invite
* The Presidents carry a 6-5 overall record with a flawless conference mark at 4-0
* The most recent loss to Behrend would be the first of three consecutive for Grove City, entering play this weekend on a three-game skid
* Last time out the Wolverines fell to Gannon 17-10
* Utica is 0-4 with each contest coming in league play
* The Pioneers have been outscored 59-18 in those four games
