Behrend Cross Country Program Makes USTFCCCA 2010 All-Academic Team

Erie, PA- The Penn State Behrend men’s and women’s cross country program were the only Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) team tabbed to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association All-Academic team.

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade-point average.

The 2010 women’s all-academic selection marks the programs fifth in a row, including 11 times in the past 14 years. The Lion runners completed the season with a 3.12 GPA. Middlebury’s squad carried the best GPA throughout the season (3.58).

This year a total of 125 men’s teams across 32 conferences shared the honor. The 2010 squad finished the fall semester with a team GPA of 3.16 while earning all-academic honors for the second year in a row. Earlham reported the highest team GPA with 3.58.

The Penn State Behrend cross country program not only excelled in the classroom, but on the field as well, both the men and women finished second in the 2010 AMCC championships.
