Lions Kick Off Season at Buffalo State Invitational

BUFFALO, NY.- Penn State Behrend woman’s cross country team finished 4th out of 11 teams to open their season at Buffalo State’s David Walker Invitational Saturday morning.

In first place were the Edinboro Scots with a team score of 24 points. Close behind was Geneseo which finished with 46 team points. Rounding off the top three teams was Mt. Union (87).

Behrend’s top runners were freshman Haley Hughes (20:14) and Katie Spade (20:15), finishing in 21st and 22nd place.  Seniors Jenna Fatica (20:17) and Emily Berry (20:17) came in 23rd and 24th to give the Lions four Top 25 performers. Catie Bertges (20:30) and Liz Keller (20:46) and Tanisha Wheatley (21:19) also held honors by finishing in the Top 45 in a field of 118 runners.  

The Lions return to action September 18 at the annual Behrend Invitational. Meet is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
