Men's Swimming Competes at Kenyon Last Chance Meet

GAMBIER, Ohio – Four Penn State Behrend men's swimmers competed at the Kenyon Fast Chance Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Coming off a fresh Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship from last weekend, Nathan Wagner (Ypsilanti, MI/Lincoln), Mark Patterson (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin), Nick Kost (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) and Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage) set out to improve on their times in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

Patterson swam in three events for the Lions. He was fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:46.08), fifth in the 100 backstroke (53.18) and was three seconds short of an NCAA B Cut time in the 100 freestyle (48.26) for seventh.

Wagner improved on his 200 IM time from last weekend, shaving .82 seconds off for 2:05.58. He also placed 10th in the 100 butterfly (56.71) and 12th in the 100 freestyle (50.22).

Kost had the fourth-best time in the 400 IM in 4:11.88 and finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.75). Elder competed in the 100 freestyle and was almost one second faster than his time at the AMCC Championships (48.99) for 10th overall.
