Behrend Softball Takes Two From Wells; Lindberg Fans 11 in Game Two

AURORA, NY – The Penn State Behrend softball team had a pair of five inning wins, defeating Wells 12-4 and 11-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Tuesday.

Game One: Penn State Behrend 12, Wells 4 (5)
Records: Penn State Behrend (25-8, 13-0 AMCC), Wells (2-19, 0-11 AMCC)

Key Moments: 

* The Lions managed to scored 12 runs on five hits and five Wells errors for the game-one victory
* Behrend had a big eight-run fourth inning to help halt the game in five innings
* Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) started the game and struck out the first three batters enroute to seven strikeouts
* Tingley re-entered the game in the fourth and allowed two of the four total runs, earning her conference-leading 14 wins
* In the five hits by the Lions, Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) and Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) each had a double while Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) had a triple
* Petitte and Salvini also finished with a pair of RBIs

Records: Penn State Behrend (26-8, 14-0 AMCC), Wells (2-20, 0-12 AMCC)

Key Moments: 

* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) fanned a career-high 11 batters in the 18 she faced over the five innings to record her sixth shut-out win
* Lindberg allowed one hit to improve to 12-2
* Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) had a pair of doubles and M. Jones went 3-for-3 in the game
* Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) drove in three runs
* Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Grove City) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a double
* Opposite of game one, the Lions had more hits than runs
* Behrend tallied 12 hits, 11 runs and nine RBIs
* Similar to the opener, the Lions had two multiple-run innings
* The Lions got on the board in the first inning with a run and then came back in the second for six runs on six hits
* In the second, Curcio and Williams had back-to-back doubles
* Behrend scored the next five runs with two outs for a 7-0 lead
* The Express got their lone hit on a double in the bottom of the fourth
