ERIE, Pa. – Dani Reinwald posted game highs with 23 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Medaille women's basketball team past Penn State Behrend 74-60 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday night.

Reinwald went 11-for-12 from the free-throw line and set a new career high on the boards for her third straight double-double, helping the Mavericks (2-10, 1-4 AMCC) get their conference win and snap a nine-game losing streak.

The Lions (4-8, 3-2 AMCC) had three players in double figures led by Erika Woll's (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) 12 points and six assists. Katie Chess (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) and Sadie Zielinski (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) each added 10 points.

Both teams used the first quarter to warm up, combining for just 19 points. Behrend got back-to-back field goals by Chess for a quick 4-0 lead. The Mavericks tied it twice at 4 and 6-all, before Goetz hit the back end of two free throws and Nicole Boyer (Blairsville, PA/Blairsville) drained a three-pointer to give the Lions a one-point lead heading into the second quarter.

The first five minutes of the second period had two lead changes and four ties. Medaille broke up a 17-all tie with a 12-4 run to end the quarter and take a 31-22 lead. MarceAnn Dunning tallied five points in the spurt and Reinwald recorded four for a nine-point advantage at the break.

The Mavericks managed to take a double-digit lead early in the third, but seven straight points by Behrend in just 36 seconds of work cut the deficit to just three with 1:10 to play in quarter. Reinwald finished the period with four consecutive free throws for a 48-41 lead.

Reinwald did not get a field goal in the fourth quarter, scoring all eight points from the charity stripe in the final 49 seconds of the game to secure the 14-point victory.

In addition to 10 points, Chess added nine rebounds and team-best four steals.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at Pitt-Bradford. Game time 1 p.m.
