Women's Basketball Set For 18th AMCC Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team will be making its 18th appearance in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament when they travel to Mt. Aloysius for a first-round game on Wednesday night.

The Lions (10-15, 9-9 AMCC) earned the No. 5 seed and will face the No. 4 Mounties (11-14, 9-9 AMCC) at 7 p.m. The winner will travel to No. 1 seed La Roche on Saturday afternoon to face the Redhawks in the semifinals at 1 p.m. In the other first-round game, No. 6 Hilbert travels to No. 3 Pitt-Bradford with the winner taking on No. 2 Medaille in the second semifinal.

The two semifinal winners will meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. at La Roche. The tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Behrend is looking for its third conference championship and first since the 2003-04 season. The Lions have advanced to eight title games since the inception of the AMCC back in 1997. Behrend and Mt. Aloysius split during the regular season with the Lions winning at home 65-60 and then falling on the road 70-64.
