Behrend Women's Soccer Second in AMCC Preseason Poll

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team was voted to finish second in the 2023 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Coaches' (AMCC) Poll, announced on Monday. 

The Lions were the runners-up in the AMCC last season, falling in double overtime to Pitt-Greensburg in the conference championship game. Behrend finished with a 6-1 mark in the AMCC, ranking second in goals-against average in conference play (0.86) and goals scored (31). 

Behrend returns a pair of captains and AMCC first-team selections in junior forward Trinity Prestash (Phillipsburg, PA/West Branch) and senior midfielder Mia Zec (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley). Prestash recorded 16 goals and four assists last season, leading the team and ranking third in the AMCC in goals scored. She tallied four goals in the AMCC Tournament and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Zec ranked second on the team with seven goals for 14 points in 2022. Zec netted two goals on three occasions last season and converted all three penalty kicks taken, while scoring one game winner.

Pitt-Greensburg, the reigning AMCC Champions from 2022, was selected to finish first followed by Penn State Altoona in third.
