On Saturday, January 17, the Behrend Lions and Franciscan University tangled for the first time in history.

The Lady Barons struggled early as Behrend pushed the tempo and raced to a 21-0 lead through the first eight minutes of the game. The blue and white's defense created 23 Franciscan turnovers and held them to 26% from the field as Behrend (6-7, 4-3) entered the break with a 41-11 advantage.

Kelly Nowacinski (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) hit five-of-nine from the floor to lead all first half scorers with 12 points, while Christine Krankota (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Lake) chipped in five rebounds and seven markers.

The Behrend Lions controlled much of the second half of the match up.  The blue and white would add 24 points to take a 65-29 win over Franciscan.  Nowacinski led all scorers with 17 points and would add five boards.  Amy Oldach (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) would contribute 11 points and five assists while Krankota would clean up the glass grabbing 13 rebounds.  The win brings the Behrend Lions record to 6-7 overall and 4-3 in league action.  The Lady Baron's dropped to 1-5 in the AMCC and 3-6 overall.

Franciscan was led by Nicole Naugle who hit 5-7 from the floor to lead the Lady Baron's with 12 points.  Angelle Cupit would add four points and 14 rebounds for the Lady Baron's.
