Simon Breaks School Record; Lions Down Cabrini
RADNOR, Pa. – Dan Simon (Harrison City, PA/Penn Trafford) broke the school record in the 200 backstroke to lead the Penn State Behrend past Cabrini 151-105 in non-conference men's swimming and diving action on Tuesday afternoon.

Simon clocked in at 1:55.64 for first place and almost one second faster than teammate Nick Kost  (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) who set the record last year. The senior also won the 50 free in 21.76.

The Lions swept two events on the day. Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.26, followed by Eric Matteson (Corry, PA/Corry) in second (2:21.36) and Ryan Elsey (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) in third (2:28.98).

Nguyen and Matteson did the same thing in the 100 breaststroke. Nguyen won in 1:02.62 and Matteson was second in (1:04.54). Blair Carson (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) finished the sweep with a time of 1:06.38 for third.

Nick Roth (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) won a pair of events along with Simon. He edged Ryan Mitcheltree (Moon Township, PA/Moon) in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.14. Mitcheltree touched in 2:08.57 for second. In the 500 freestyle, he won in 5:10.43 and Justin Seeley (North East, PA/North East) earned second.

Lloyd Koester (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) picked up the win in the 1000 freestyle (10:53.62) and Mitcheltree followed in less than a second (10:54.47).

Jacob Ekas (Erie, PA/McDowell) finished first in the 100 backstroke (56.13) and third in the 50 free (23.67).

The winning 200 medley relay of Simon, Nguyen, Roth and Elder touched in 1:40.53 to start the meet and set the tone for Behrend.

The Lions return to action on Friday, December 5 at the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational.
