Simon Earns Best Finish in 100 Backstroke; All-American For Third Time

SHENANDOAH, TX - Penn State Behrend senior Dan Simon (Harrison City, PA / Penn Trafford) earned his third straight All-America honor with a fifth-place finish in the 100 backstroke at the Division III NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday night.

Simon recorded his best finish at the championships in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.83. He got to the finals after taking sixth in the preliminaries in 48.90. Simon shaved off .07 to get his best time to date.

The senior also competed in the 50 freestyle on Thursday and finished tied for 48th place with a time of 21.29. Simon takes the national stage one more time this weekend, competing in the 200 backstroke tomorrow. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m.
