Simon Named AMCC Swimmer of the Year Again; Eleven Earn All-Conference

ERIE, Pa. – Senior Dan Simon (Harrison City, PA/Penn-Trafford) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Swimmer of the Year for the third straight season, headlining the All-AMCC honors recently announced.

Simon won three individual and four relay titles at the AMCC Meet, winning his fourth straight title in the 100 backstroke. He broke eight records in the process and tied for the highest point scorer of the meet. Simon posted a NCAA qualifying time and set a new AMCC meet record in the 100 backstroke. He broke three records in winning the 200 backstroke with an NCAA 'B' cut time, before winning the 50 freestyle. He set a new pool record in the 50 backstroke and a pool, invitational and meet record in the 100 backstroke in the 400 medley relay. 

Nick Roth (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) was also a seven-time first-team All-Conference selection. He matched Simon with three individual wins (200 butterfly, 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle), while earning four relay victories (400 free relay, 200 free relay, 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay).

Nick Kost (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) picked up two individual wins in the 200 and 400 IM, while swimming on the 800 free relay and 400 free relay teams to earn four first-team All-Conference nods.

Ryan Mitcheltree (Moon Township, PA/Moon) and Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) added four All-Conference awards under their belts. Mitcheltree was a first-team choice by winning the 1650 freestyle and swimming a leg on the winning 800 free relay. He was also All-AMCC second team in the 500 freestyle and 200 butterfly.

Nguyen won the 100 breaststroke and was a member of the winning 200 and 400 medley relays for first-team All-AMCC and was a second-team choice in the 200 breaststroke.

Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage) was a part of four winning relays to earn first-team All-AMCC (400 free relay, 200 free relay, 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay), before earning second-team All-Conference in the 100 freestyle.

Eric Matteson (Corry, PA/Corry) was also selected to the All-AMCC first team for his win in the 200 breaststroke.

Matt Myers (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) was recognized on the first team for swimming a leg on the winning 200 and 800 freestyle relays. Ryan Siggins (Erie, PA/Iroquois) completed the 800 free relay team for his first-ever All-Conference honor.

Ryan Elsey (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) and Jake Ekas (Erie, PA/McDowell) got a taste of their first All-Conference accolade on the second team. Elsey placed second in the 400 IM at the AMCC Championship Meet, while Ekas was runner up in the 200 backstroke.
