Seniors Help Down Pitt-Bradford

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team have won their sixth straight dual-meet, earning a 101-81 decision over Pitt-Bradford in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Friday night.

Nick Roth (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) won two individual events for the Lions and also joined the winning 400 medley relay along with Dan Simon (Harrison City, PA/Penn Trafford), Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) and Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage). The foursome collected 11 points to start the meet with a winning time of 3:36.71.

Roth picked up his first individual win on the next event, the 1000 freestyle. He touched in 11:04.50 followed in second by Ryan Siggins (Erie, PA/Iroquois) with a time of 11:16.84. Roth also won the 100 butterfly in 54.24.

Celebrating senior day, Ryan Mitcheltree (Moon Township, PA/Moon) and Justin Seeley (North East, PA/North East) were 1-2 in the 200 freestyle. Mitcheltree won in 1:57.90 and Seeley was three seconds behind in 2:00.50.

In the 400 IM, Nick Kost (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) claimed first for the Lions with a winning time of 4:21.76. Ryan Elsey (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) earned the other points for Behrend in second place (4:45.77).

Matt Myers (Cranberry Township, PA / Seneca Valley) was .15 second shy of winning the 50 free for Behrend. He was second in 23.21 and Blair Carson (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) was less than a second behind for third (24.61). Myers was also second and top finished for the Lions in the 100 freestyle, touching in 51.60. Siggins was in third with a time of 53.28.

The last individual win went to Simon in the 100 backstroke. Leading the race the entire way, he clocked in at 51.18 with his split times being 24.68 and 26.50.

The Lions return to the pool tomorrow at St. Vincent, beginning at 1 p.m.
