Behrend Wrestling Places Three; Lions Take Eighth

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend wrestling team finished eighth out of 17 teams at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational held on Saturday.

Key Moments:

* The Lions had three wrestlers place, while recording 15 pins, four technical falls and three major decisions
* Peyton Hearn (Conneaut, PA/Conneaut) took second at 157, Lane Dellaquila (Saint Marys, PA/Elk County Catholic) was third at 165 and Sebastian Chiesa (West Springfield, PA/Northwestern) was sixth at 125
* Hearn went 4-0 with three decision wins and a major-decision victory, before falling 8-3 to Kailan Keith of Thomas More
* Dellaquila tallied three straight wins; a major decision and two decision wins
* Dellaquila used a 4-1 decision against Navid Ighani of Fairmont State to place third at 165
* At 125, Chiesa got a fall and a decision win before falling to the consolation bracket
* Chiesa then registered back-to-back technical falls to get into the third-place bout
* Chiesa fell to Romeo Tsai of McDaniel for sixth place
* Zach Dellinger (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville) posted a 3-2 record at 125 with wins coming by technical fall and two pins
* Alexander Wisdom (Plantation, FL/American Heritage) at 133 and Jake Brown (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) at 141 each went 3-2 on the day
* Brown led the Lions with three pins on the day
* At 149, Martin Ohlsson (Westfield, NY/Westfield Academy) and Michael Ruiz  (Charter Oak, CA/Charter Oak) both tallied a 2-2 record
* Ryan Gildersleeve (DuBois, PA/DuBois) and Matthew Melchior (Lawrence Township, NJ/Lawrence), each competing at 174, also picked up a pair of wins
* Melchior got a pair of pins
* Matthew Caldwell (Wheatfield, NY/Starpoint) and Eric Morales (San Antonio, TX/Burbank) each got pins for their lone wins of the day at 184 and 285, respectively
