LYCOMING, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend wrestling team competed in day one 2024 NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by Lycoming College on Friday.

Key Moments:

* The Behrend Lions had six wrestlers record at least one victory on the day
* As a team, Behrend currenlty has 20 points to sit 18th out of 22 teams after the first round of competition
* Heading into tomorrow, Cole Neil (Saint Marys, PA/Saint Marys) has a 2-1 record at 133
* Neil received a bye and then fell to the consolation bracket after a 19-7 major decision against AJ Orlando from Averett
* Neil finished with a pair of wins, pinning Dylan Coward of Marymount in 0:44 seconds and getting a 9-0 major decision over Daniel Barra of York
* Peyton Hearn (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake) and Martin Ohlsson (Westfield, NY/Westfield Academy) tallied a 1-2 record at 149 and 157, respectively
* Hearn registered a sudden victory in his second match, 4-1
* Hearn grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second period, before Joseph Olalde from Ferum knotted the score with an escape in the third
* Hearn used a takedown in overtime to collect the win
* Ohlsson pinned Gavin Pascore of Gettysburg in 1:02 ninth fall of the season
* Matthew Caldwell (Wheatfield, NY/Starpoint) and Eric Morales (San Antonio, TX/Burbank) each collected a win
* Caldwell, wrestling at 197, won by technical fall over Weston Memmott of Southern Virginia and Morales earned a 0:48 fall at 285
