GENEVA, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed at the Spire North Coast Open on Saturday afternoon.
Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) led the way with a second place finish in the 3000m run. Bertges finished with a time of 10:53.46.
In the one mile run, two Lions placed in the top-10. Jamie Szramowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) took fifth place at 5:40.03. Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) was not far behind in eighth place with a time of 5:42.86.
Bertges, Szramowski, and Hughes teamed up with Corinne Conto (Bruin, PA/Karns City Area) for the distance medley. The group finished in third place at 13:18.72.
In the 60m hurdles, freshman Alex Paget-Blanc (Paris, France/Aelene Boucher) set a school record. The first-year runner finished with a time of 9.95 in her first collegiate outing.
Behrend will be back in action on Saturday at the Spire Midwest Open in Geneva, Ohio.
