Women’s Indoor Track & Field Begins New Campaign At Houghton

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend women's indoor track & field season began its season at the Houghton December Classic held at the Kerr-Pegula Field House Friday afternoon.

Key Moments:

* Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) registered a third-place finish in the pole vault with a score of 10-2, while Noelani Takei (Fremont, CA/Irvington) took fifth in the event
(9-6 ¼)
* Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was the top-finisher for Behrend in the 600m, running a time of 1:44.52 for sixth place
* In the triple jump, freshman Rylee Long (Slippery Rock, PA/Moniteau) scored 34-11 ¼ for a fourth-place finish in the event
* Long would go on to finish 12th in the high jump final, clearing the bar at 4-7 ¾
* Victoria Dietrich (Oakmont, PA/Riverview) placed 13th in the 200m with a time of 29.04
* In the shot put, Paige Massey (Erie, PA/McDowell) had a throw of 33-11 ½ for 14th place
* Behrend finished off the day with a second-place finish by the 4x4 relay team of Laffan, Kappeler, Haley Felton (Midway, PA/Fort Cherry), and Peyton Grimm (Sykesville, PA/DuBois Area)
