Behrend Sweeps AMCC Track & Field Weekly Awards

ERIE, Pa. – Four Penn State Behrend Indoor Track & Field student-athletes have been selected as Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week for the week of December 4-December 10.

Freshman Rylee Long (Slippery Rock, PA/Moniteau) earned Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors after breaking the school record in the triple jump. Long jumped 36-10 ¼ to break the school record, qualify for AARTFC, and score a victory in the event Saturday afternoon, trumping the Behrend indoor record of 36-9 that was previously set by Staci Banaszek in 2006.

On the track, Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) notched Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week with a runner-up finish in the 3000m at the Mount Union Invite, crossing the finish line with a time of 11:10.43.

For the men, Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) delivered a runner-up finish in the high jump with a season-best and an AARTFC qualifying clearance of 6-6 ¾ en route to Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Saturday.

Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep) picked up a second-place finish in the 3000m with a time of 9:16.61 and then would go on to place third in the 500m (1:09.35) at Mount Union to be named Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

This marks the second week in a row that Behrend track & field athletes have swept the weekly conference selections.

The Lions will return to action after Christmas break, competing in the SPIRE Midwest Open on Saturday, Jan. 20. The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m.
