Behrend Indoor Track & Field Set To Compete in AMCC/United East Championships

LANDOVER, Md. – The Penn State Behrend men's and women's indoor track & field team will travel to Landover, MD for the first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC)/United East Indoor Championships on Monday, Feb. 26. The meet will take place at Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex, beginning at 10 a.m.

The four institutions representing the United East Conference are as follows: Gallaudet, Lancaster Bible, Penn State Harrisburg, and St. Mary's College of Maryland, while the three institutions representing the AMCC are Alfred State, Carlow, and Penn State Behrend. The top three finishers in each event and the top three relay teams will earn All-United East honors. At the conclusion of the meet, an AMCC/United East Men's and Women's Team Champion will be announced. Also, a Men's and Women's Track Athlete, Field Athlete, Rookie, and Coach of the Year will be crowned.

Men
* The Behrend men competed in seven meets prior to the AMCC/United East Indoor Championships
* On February 10th at the SPIRE Indoor Games, the 4x4 relay team of Brendan Luce (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern), Jake Walden (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep), Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep), Jake Egizio (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) set new school record with a time of 3:23.85 to trump the previous record of 3:23.98 that was set during the 2016 season
* During this season, four AARTFC qualifying marks were hit by Egizio (60m), Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) (pole vault), Samuel Hetrick (New Bethlehem, PA/Redbank Valley) (high jump), Brandon Konieczki (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) (long jump), and the 4000-distance medley relay team of Klein, Walden, Aidan Domencic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley), and Jason Seevers (North East, PA/North East)
* At Ashland this past weekend, Hetrick recorded a first-place finish with a jump of 6-0 ¾ in the high jump, while Konieczki set a new personal best in the 60 dash with a time of 7.17 for fifth place

Women
* The Behrend women competed in seven meets prior to the AMCC/United East Indoor Championships
* On December 9th at Mount Union, freshman Rylee Long (Slippery Rock, PA/Moniteau) jumped 36-10 ¼ to break the school record that was previously set 17 years ago (36-9) and qualified for AARTFC with this distance
* Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) earned a first-place finish with a new personal best and AARTFC qualifying mark of 11-1 in the pole vault at Mount Union, marking the first time in her career that she has gone over 11' in competition
* Junior Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) recorded a pair of season-bests at Ashland, running a time of 1:01.31 in the 400 dash for fifth place and then finished sixth with an indoor personal record time of 27.37 in the 200 dash
