Behrend Women's Water Polo Takes Down Chatham at Junker Center Pool

The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team defeated the Chatham University Cougars on Saturday, April 17 at the Junker Center pool.  The blue and white were victorious by a score of 6-4.

Chatham got off to a quick start as they managed to score three early goals in the first period to take a 3-0 advantage into the second period.  The blue and white would get on the board in the second as they poured in a goal, but Chatham would answer that with a goal of their own and remain three goals ahead.

The third and fourth period is when the Behrend Lions took the game over as they scored five unanswered goals with two coming in the third and three in the fourth and final period.  The blue and white walked out of the Junker Center with their fourth win of the season and having defeated the Cougars for the second time this season.  Stefania Pontillo (Erie/McDowell) led the Behrend Lions in scoring with three goals while MaryEllen Spooner (Springfield/West Sprinfield) continued her good play with two.  Anne Lawrence (State College/State College) rounded out the scoring with a goal of her own.

Next up for the blue and white will be the CWPA Division III Championships starting on Friday, April 23.  Behrend will also play on Saturday, April 24 to conclude the event.
