Behrend Hall of Fame Class of 2018 Announced

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend will induct seven individuals into the College's Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Kevin Buczynski '08, Dustin Fairchild '08, John Fleming '76, Kristin Macha '07, Allison Mudrey '08, Anthony Spoto '08, and Brittany Yost '07 are the individuals to be recognized. In addition, the 25th anniversary of the women's basketball and softball ECAC Championships, along with the 10-year anniversary AMCC Championship teams will be honored.

Kevin Buczynski '08 (Erie, PA/Villa Maria) was a two-time AMCC Player of the Year and three-time All-Conference selection for the Penn State Behrend men's basketball team from 2004-08. He averaged double-digit points his last three seasons to finish second in the record books in scoring with 1,689 points. Buczynski also ranks second in program history in field-goal percentage (0.592), field-goals made (641), seventh in rebounds (689) and 10th in games played (110). He capped his career being named the Behrend Male Athlete of the Year.

Dustin Fairchild '08 (Corry, PA/Corry) was a two-time AMCC Swimmer of the Year and three-year captain for the Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team. Fairchild was also a 12-time AMCC Champion during his career. He broke many records including the 200 breaststroke record which held the top spot for nine years. When Fairchild graduated, his name was at the top of eight events with the fastest time. His senior year, he was named the Behrend and AMCC Scholar Athlete of the Year.

John Fleming '76 (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) was a member of the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team from 1973-76. He played every game during his career, scoring eight goals and dishing out 12 assists. A three-time captain, Fleming earned the White Letter Award, named Team MVP and Co-Athlete of the Year his senior campaign. He was also a two-time All-Conference selection and a Regional All-American Honorable Mention.

Kristin Macha '07 (Export, PA/Franklin Regional) was a powerhouse infielder for the Penn State Behrend softball team from 2004-07. She was an All-AMCC first-team selection her sophomore and junior seasons. During Macha's junior year, she smacked 55 hits, drove in 33 runs, and led the AMCC with a .470 batting average. She left her mark on the record books when she graduated, ranking second in singles (147), third in hits (188), fourth in batting average (.429), fifth in doubles (37) and ninth in RBIs (101).

Allison Mudrey '08 (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) was a three-time Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player of the Year for the Penn State Behrend women's tennis team from 2004-07. She was also a three-time first-team All-AMCC selection in singles at the No. 1 spot, while earning the honor twice at No. 1 doubles. Mudrey was also a two-time team MVP choice and set the school singles career wins record with a 59-7 mark.

Anthony Spoto '08 (Birmingham, MI/Birmingham Seaholm) became the first All-American in Penn State Behrend men's water polo history. He was selected an All-American honorable mention in 2004 as a freshman and again to the second team in 2007 during his senior year. Spoto is a four-time Division III Eastern Championship Team selection and two-time team MVP. He set new program records in career goals (237) and drawn kickouts (183), while setting the single-season record for goals (76) and drawn kickouts (59). Spoto was also a member of the men's swimming and diving team.

Brittany Yost '07 (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) was a two-sport athlete at Penn State Behrend, making her mark on the swimming and diving team as well as the water polo team from 2004-07. Her freshman year, she averaged 3.0 steals per game to finish with a season-best 83 steals to rank fourth on the all-time charts and earn team Rookie of the Year. The three-time team MVP and two-year captain for water polo set the career mark for steals with 246, was second in drawn kickouts (85) and sixth in assists (50).
