DiRienzo, McDonough Headline AMCC Men's Basketball Team

ERIE, Pa. – Freshman guard Matthew McDonough (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Co-Newcomer of the Year while Tommy DiRienzo (Pittsburgh, PA/Bethel Park) was named to the All-AMCC Second Team.

McDonough earned the honor alongside Jeremy Rodriguez of Pitt-Bradford. The guard ranks second on the team with 9.8 points per game and is third in assists per game (1.6). McDonough scored double-digit points in 10 games, registering a career-high 31 points in the win over Pitt-Bradford. He also set a new program record for most three-pointers in a game with 10. McDonough tallied 265 points in 27 games and shot 74.4 percent from the free-throw line. He led the team with 50 triples in 27 games played.

DiRienzo is landing on the All-Conference Team for the first time in his career. Recently named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team, the junior led the team and ranked sixth in the conference with 16.7 points per game. DiRienzo ranks second overall in the conference in free-throw percentage (88.0). He scored double-digit points in all but eight games, recording a career-high 34 points at Penn State Altoona, knocking down a career-best 13 field goals. DiRienzo is also third on the team with 47 three-pointers.
