Behrend Holds On Against Hilbert

HAMBURG, NY – Penn State Behrend and Hilbert men's volleyball teams battled through five sets with the Lions coming out on top 3-2 in United Volleyball Conference (UVC) action on Wednesday night.

Behrend (2-1) took a two-set lead, winning 25-16 and 25-18. The Hawks (3-4) narrowly edged the Lions in the next two sets, 25-23 and 29-27, to force a fifth game that Behrend won, 15-13.

Nathan Steele (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) led the attack with 17 kills, eight digs and six blocks. Derek Polishen (Plum, PA/Plum) posted a team-best 14 digs and Colin Ingram (Hilliard, OH/Hilliard) dished out 28 assists on 53 total kills by the Lions.

Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) registered 10 kills, five digs, four service aces and three blocks in the win.

For Hilbert, Adam Weaver had 30 kills on 78 attempts and Korey Schwab added 18 kills.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday against Cazenovia. The match begins at 7 p.m.
