Lions at CMU Invitational Results

Pittsburgh, PA – The Penn State Behrend women’s cross country team had a strong performance Saturday as they competed in the Carnegie Invitational and finished 5th out of 24 programs.

The women were led by Liz Keller’s 33rd place effort which was followed by Haley Hughes and Katie Spade’s 35th and 36th place finishes. Hughes completed the 3k course in 20:34 only to beat out Spade by 2 seconds. In the third and fourth spots for the Lions were Catie Bertges and Katie Patterson, who crossed the line in 20:58 and 21:08 respectively. Anne Cote of Seton Hill captured the invitational’s first place overall finish with a remarkable time of 18:42.

Wayne State earned first place at the invite with a team low of 41 points. The host Carnegie Mellon finished second while AMCC’s Franciscan would come in third. The only other team to outrun the Lions was Seton Hill.

The Behrend women will return to action October 16 at the Inter-Regional Rumble in Oberlin, Ohio.
