Compton Breaks Pool Record; Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats Nazareth on Senior Day

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team won 11 of 16 events for a 177-101 victory over Nazareth in non-conference action on Saturday in the Junker Center Pool.

Key Moments:


* Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) had a hand in three victories, while breaking the pool record in the 200 butterfly
* Compton swam a 1:53.61 to set the record, leading off with a time of 25.79 and finishing with 29.90 in the 200 fly for first place
* Compton also won the 100 butterfly in 51.96 while also swimming the third leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:39.60)
* Compton was joined by Anthony Tumino (Hershey, PA/Hershey), Will Perham (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) and Jax Abele (Erie, PA/Iroquois)
* Jake Niziol (Eighty Four, PA/Ringgold) won a pair of individual events for the Lions
* Niziol was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.36), followed by Jacob Eshelman (Franklin, PA/Franklin) in second (1:02.06), before winning 200 breaststroke (2:17.98)
* Dan Tanaskovic (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) paced Behrend in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 57.55 and Nevin Rutherford (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) was second in 1:01.86
* Eshelman and Perham had wins of their own, touching first in the 200 backstroke in 1:58.81 and the 200 IM (2:05.57), respectively
* Abele, Tumino, Eshelman, and Tanaskovic were the four that made up the winning 200 free relay in 1:29.08
* Jacob Earley (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) had the best score on both diving boards for first in each event
* Earley posted a 174.60 on the one-meter board, before scoring a 174.95 on the three-meter board
