Compton, Perham Crowned AMCC Champions; Lions in Third Place

ROCHESTER, NY – Tim Compton (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) and Will Perham (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) were crowned AMCC Champions on day three of the 2023 Allegheny Empire Championships hosted by Nazareth College at the Webster Aquatic Center on Friday night.  

Combined Men's Scores: 1. Alfred State (823), 2. Alfred (614.50), 3. Penn State Behrend (608), 4. Hartwick (524), 5. Nazareth (371), 6. Penn State Altoona (314.50), 7. Pitt-Bradford (181), 8. Utica (106), 9. Medaille (3), 10. Wells (2)

Noteworthy:

* Compton, who was crowned AMCC-Empire Champion in the 500 freestyle last night, broke the meet record he set last year, the AMCC meet and open record and the Behrend team record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:04.45
* Compton defends his title in the 400 IM for his second gold medal
* Perhman won the 100 breaststroke in 57.84, the second fastest time in Behrend history for a freshman
* Jake Niziol (Eighty Four, PA/Ringgold) placed third in the 100 breaststroke in 58.33
* Compton, Perhman, Anthony Tumino (Hershey, PA/Hershey) and Jacob Eshelman (Franklin, PA/Franklin) claimed third in the 400 medley relay (3:29.08)
* The foursome are now fourth all-time in Behrend's Top 10 performances in the 400 medley relay
* Tumino, coming off his record-breaking performance in the 50 free, took fourth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.50
* Eshelman was also the leader in the 200 freestyle for the Lions, placing seventh overall in 1:45.49

* Behrend will compete in the final day of the AMCC Empire Championships tomorrow. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals at 5 p.m.
