Men's Soccer Ready For AMCC Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team begins its quest for a fifth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) title tomorrow, battling fourth-seed La Roche is the semifinals beginning at 12 p.m. at the Behrend fields.

The Lions, who earned the top seed with an undefeated 9-0 mark in conference play, have made 10 out of 13 appearances in the AMCC Championship game and are looking to make it 11 trips to the finals. The winner between Behrend and the Redhawks will face the winner of the second semifinal match featuring No. 2 Medaille and No. 3 Penn State Altoona.

Jake Gamble is the leading goal scorer for the men. The sophmore has netted 15 goals this season and is just two away from tying Behrend's single-season record currently held by Jerry Tortella. Tortella, along with the rest of the senior class, has made it to three AMCC finals but has not been able to carry the trophy home since the 2007 season. The senior is one goal away from breaking the program record for career goals.

Defensively the Lions are fierce. In Chris Bolea's first year in goal, he has racked up 64 saves and has only been scored on 15 times. Behrend currently leads the league in goals against average (.79) and goals allowed average (.83).
