Bilka Leads Lions at ECAC Indoor Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Members of the Penn State Behrend men's and women's track and field teams competed at the ECAC Indoor Championships on Friday.

In day one of the competition, sophomore Dylan Bilka (Seven Fields, PA / Seneca Valley) led the way for the Lions with a first place finish in the pole vault.  Bilka vaulted 4.92m to set a new school record.  His vault ranks sixth in the nation and will qualify him for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Victoria Harwood (Fair Haven, NJ / Rumson-Fair Haven) competed in the pole vault for the women.  The senior took 11th place at 3.36m.

Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) had a record-setting day as well.  Bertges took 11th place in the 5000m with a time of 18:24.64.  Bertges' time also set a new school record.

Four Behrend athletes teamed up for the DMR.  The squad of Alex Paget-Blanc (Paris, France/Aelene Boucher), Jamie Szramowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic), Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren), and Harwood took 11th place at 12:49.68.

Four other Lions will compete tomorrow along with two relay teams on the second day of the ECAC Indoor Championships.
