Three Named CWPA Athletes of the Week

ERIE, Pa. - Three Penn State Behrend women's water polo players recieved CWPA Athlete of the Week honors. Freshman Shannon Young (Roseville, CA/Roseville) was named the CWPA Player of the Week while freshman Selena Hughes (Carlsbad, CA/San Marcos) earned Rooke of the Week honors. Senior Alison McClure (Loveland, OH/Milford) was named the CWPA Defensive Player of the Week.

Young scored nine goals in the annual team trip to California. This included four goals in a win over Caltech and three goals against Occidental. Young also contributed five assists, two field blocks, two steals, one drawn kickout and one drawn penalty. Hughes, the Rookie of the Week tallied eight goals last week with five over Cal Tech. She registered one assist, four steals, and one drawn kickout. Alison McClure was named the Defensive Player of the Week for her effort last week. McClure played 7.5 quarters in goal, making 16 saves. She tallied five steals in the net. On the field, McClure registered one goal, nine steals, four drawn kickouts, and one assist.
